Our Team

Since the seeds of Wild Heart Music were sown by Port McNeill singer-songwriter Georgia Murray and her mother Deborah back in 2012, a great many amazing people have come together to make their innovative enterprise an extraordinary reality.

From the day of our official launch in 2013 until now we have been blessed to count some of the most talented music professionals and educators on Vancouver Island and elsewhere as instructors among the Wild Heart Music team, each lending their considerable skills and experience to our exciting FREE music Programs for youth.

As we move forward through our second decade of serving the communities of Northern Vancouver Island, Wild Heart Music is proud to introduce you to our current dazzling company of multitalented instructors, all highly qualified in their fields:

Jenny Lester

Workshop Facilitator

Jenny Lester is a hugely experienced musician and singer-songwriter boasting an extraordinary resume, and we are delighted to have her as an instructor at Wild Heart Music. A highly respected luminary of the fertile Canadian bluegrass scene, Jenny is a multi-instrumentalist who began playing the fiddle at just eight years-young, performing in her family’s Driftwood Canyon Family Band, in Smithers, BC.

Blessed with a voice described by Alice Hill of WELY in Ely, Minnesota, that “would make an angel weep with joy,” Jenny has had a colourful career since winning a scholarship to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, from where she graduated with honours in commercial music, also attaining three Golden Reel awards..

Her adventures in music have since taken her to perform in places as far flung as Colorado and Taiwan, and with such as the great John Reischman and Oliver Swain among many. Jenny lives in Northern BC, but the gorgeous, Yukon-based bluegrass/folk outfit Hungry Hill is Jenny’s most recent project, with whom she has toured internationally. And, as you do, Jenny has appeared in Disney, PBS, and Discovery Channel films!

Aside from her immense musical talent, no profile of Jenny is complete without mention of her passion for horses, which she trains, and is such that a silhouette of a horse even forms part of her logo!
